FEATURED: Lea Salonga Records New Song "Wished That I Could Call You"

It was surprising and flattering to find out that someone from the other side of the world followed me on Twitter. They tapped me because our very own, the Broadway legend Lea Salonga sang one of their songs - Wished That I Could Call You..

And for me to be able to write more about the song, the recording and the works, Dan and Laura Curtis accommodated my questions.

What's the story behind the song?

The song is called 'Wished That I Could Call You' and the story of the song is about someone who is struggling to come to terms with the fact that they have lost someone that they love. The feeling of not being to just call someone and talk to them in the way they used to do.  

How did you guys approach Lea Salonga to sing it?

We have been very fortunate to work with a number of people who know Lea very well. We worked with Ramin Karimloo on 'Why Am I Falling', Jonathan Pryce and Michael Sheen on 'A Miner's Song' so that was very helpful. We made initial contact through her agent and Lea was very kind and agreed to sing the song which we wrote especially for her. 

How was it like working with the Lea Salonga?

It was really amazing to work with her and she is someone that we have both admired all our lives. Being able to work creatively and put together what we think is a very special song has been an amazing experience. It is certainly something that we will never forget. 

How can the listeners, let's say the followers of Lea Salonga and yours as well get to here the final mix? When will the album be released?

The song will be included on an album with proceeds going to Children in Need. We have written ten new songs for ten different West End and Broadway artists including, Sierra Boggess and Simon Bowman. We are very excited for everyone to hear these songs which were all written personally for every artist involved. We hope to release 'Wished That I Could Call You' as a single early in the New Year'. 

The album will be released in March 2014 but we don't have a name for yet. If anyone has any ideas let us know! :) but we will make it is on Amazon and iTunes to download all over the World and that the album is also available to be shipped anywhere in the World. 

Personally, I am excited to hear this song and the rest in the album; with Lea Salonga in one of the tracks. There goes my fan mode! :)
